Several years ago, the fashion trend went from Grandma’s curtains and heavy drapes to the simplistic, clean and more modern look of Blinds and Shades. Now everything old is new again. We have trended back to the softer look of Drapery and Sheers, but with a new style and a wide range of fabrics. Many people are now enhancing the blinds and shades they currently have by adding simple fabric Side Panels of Drapery in fabrics that complement the décor of the room, cover the side ‘light gap’ that blinds and shades have and giving the room a softer finished look. Add a pillow or two in the same fabric to pull the whole look together!

Drapery and Sheers can change the whole appearance of a room
If you want to make your ceilings look higher, get floor-to-ceiling Drapes or Sheers that are custom tailored to your room. They draw the eye up and down and lend your space a feeling of tallness and height. Make sure that your drapes reach the floor or come to within a half-inch to a quarter inch. Depending on your tastes, you may prefer that your Drapes not only reach the floor but “break,” puddling with an overlap of one or two inches. This can be an elegant option, depending on how the room is used. If you have small children or pets that might trample on it, it’s best to keep the drapes just above the floor. Drapes, depending on the fabric, can be light filtering, or with a black out liner, completely room darkening.
Sheers
Sheers can offer a look of elegance to any room. With a wide range of sheer fabrics available in a multitude of colours, designs and patterns, we can find the perfect style or your room and home. Sheers can be made in different “fullness” allowing more “view through” or more privacy depending of the “fullness” used. Many people prefer a combination of Sheers closest to the window and a Drape giving you the option of light during the day and complete privacy and room darkening at night. The types of pleat styles for Drapes and Sheers have gone from the still popular “pinch pleat” to tailored, reverse, goblet pleats and more, to newer grommeted drapes and the classic, clean look of Ripple fold drapes or sheers on a simple track system.
